1. Who is responsible
This notice is issued by Monolith Corp, trading as Monolith Studio. Correspondence: United Kingdom — correspondence via hello@monolith-corp.org. Questions: privacy@monolith-corp.org.
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a site. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, and scripts that read a device identifier. They can keep a site secure, remember preferences, measure how pages are used, or support advertising and campaign attribution.
Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR, we give clear information about non-essential cookies and obtain consent before using them, except where a cookie is strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested.
3. How we ask for consent
When you first visit, a cookie preference control explains the categories we use. Analytics and marketing stay off until you choose them. Necessary storage can run without a choice because the site cannot function securely or remember your preference without it.
You can accept all non-essential categories, allow necessary only, or open “Manage” to choose analytics and marketing separately. Closing the panel without a choice does not count as consent for analytics or marketing.
Preferences are stored locally (see inventory below) and a short acknowledgement cookie may be set so the banner does not reappear every page load after you decide. You can reopen the control at any time via Cookie settings in the site footer.
4. Categories we use
CategoryWhen it runs
Strictly necessaryAlways available — security, authentication, consent and preference storage required to operate the site you asked for
AnalyticsOnly after you accept analytics — helps us understand visits and which content is useful. Not used to serve ads on this site
MarketingOnly after you accept marketing — only needed if advertising, retargeting or cross-site marketing technology is connected. Off by default and not loaded in the current Monolith Studio build
5. What is stored on this deployment
Name / keyPurpose & duration
monolith-cookie-consent-v5 (localStorage)Stores whether you decided, and whether analytics / marketing are allowed. Kept until you clear site data or change preferences. Category: necessary
monolith_consent (cookie)Lightweight flag that a consent choice exists so the UI can stay quiet after you decide. Path=/; Max-Age about 180 days; SameSite=Lax. Category: necessary
Session / auth cookies (when logged in)Keep a signed-in portal or admin session secure (HTTP-only, signed). Duration follows the authentication configuration (typically session length measured in days). Category: necessary
Portal UI preferences (browser storage)May store interface state such as draft catalogue edits for the session. Not used for advertising. Category: necessary / functional for the portal you opened
Third-party analytics or advertising cookies are not set by the default Monolith Studio marketing site. If a future engagement connects a named provider after consent, that provider’s cookies will be listed here before they run for visitors.
Client websites (for example a café site hosted alongside the studio) may send first-party pageview events to our collector for the client portal. Those events are handled as described in the privacy and data-processing notices and do not require third-party ad cookies on the Monolith Studio site.
6. What we do not do
- We do not treat silence, scrolling, or closing the banner as consent for analytics or marketing.
- We do not load non-essential tags before the relevant preference is stored as accepted.
- We do not sell personal data collected via cookies as a product.
- We do not use pre-ticked boxes for optional categories.
7. Legal bases
Strictly necessary cookies are used because they are required to provide the service you request (PECR exemption for such storage). Where we process personal data from necessary cookies, we rely on legitimate interests or contract as described in the privacy notice.
Analytics and marketing technologies that are not strictly necessary rely on consent. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
8. Changing or withdrawing consent
You can:
- use Cookie settings in the footer to reopen the preference panel;
- switch analytics or marketing off and save — non-essential scripts stop loading on subsequent visits;
- clear cookies and site data in your browser, which may reset the saved choice and show the banner again;
- use browser controls to block third-party cookies globally (this may affect other sites too).
9. Retention
Consent records in local storage remain until cleared or updated. The monolith_consent cookie is set for approximately six months and may be refreshed when you save a new choice. Server-side logs that incidentally include IP addresses follow the retention rules in the privacy notice (typically up to 90 days).
10. Children
This site is aimed at businesses and adults evaluating professional services. We do not knowingly use cookies to profile children. Contact privacy@monolith-corp.org if you believe a child has provided personal data through the site.
11. Updates
We update this notice when we change cookie categories or add providers. The “last reviewed” date shows when this page was last checked. Material changes to non-essential technologies are reflected in the consent control before those technologies are offered.
